University Chaplaincy

The Ecumenical Christian Chaplaincy Program of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico has a mission summarized in three fundamental goals:

To foster, from an ecumenical Christian perspective, an optimal environment for the development, growth and spiritual well-being of the entire university community in which the diversity and plurality of expressions of thought and creeds are recognized, respected and appreciated.
To foster the development of Christian attitudes and values in an academic and ecumenical context that promote fellowship, solidarity and service to others in the process of the transformation of the Puerto Rican people.
To stimulate the reflection of the Christian faith and the analysis of the Puerto Rican social reality in the ecumenical context of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico.

In each academic unit there is a Chaplaincy Office that serves the entire community. These offices are headed by a Chaplaincy Director with theological training and pastoral experience.

Services offered by the Chaplaincy program:

Spiritual counseling
Pastoral care of empathetic and supportive accompaniment
Bible study opportunities
The physical facilities of the chapels for private prayer and meditation
Community worship moments in ecumenical celebrations
Collaboration with university associations and groups in the organization of their Christian activities that promote the welfare and quality of life of the university community.
Educational and didactic materials on theological topics and biblical studies for Christian reflection.
Collaboration in the planning and development of activities and research related to the historical-religious phenomenon of Puerto Rico and the Americas.
Student activities of Christian interest such as concerts, lectures, symposiums, community service, among others.
