San Juan, May 11, 2023 - The Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Law was ranked as the number one law school in the world. 40 of a total of 196 universities accredited by the American Bar Association, in the US News and World Report, magazine report US News which has been published since 1983 and where the best universities in the world are ranked. The category where Inter Derecho was ranked 40th is 2024. Best Graduate Schools Rankings - Law Programs and Specialities: Trial Advocacy, which is that of law school litigation programs. For the first time, a law school in Puerto Rico is included under this category, which is considered one of the most important in a law school.
“The position achieved by our Law School on this important list is an extraordinary recognition of our efforts to offer the best possible education in the area of litigation skills. This is a testament to the fact that the School does indeed offer the highest quality education. This ranking takes into consideration issues such as academic offerings, participation in competitions and other intercollegiate and extracurricular activities such as the student association, the diversity of litigation skills teams, because we have one for general litigation and another for appellate and international litigation, as well as the quality of its academic faculty, the creation of the Litigation Center, exchange programs, among other efforts. I am very proud of the work that has been done by the excellent faculty and students of the School of Law. To the entire university community, congratulations,” said Inter-American University Interim President Dr. Rafael Ramirez Rivera.
For his part, the Dean of the School of Law, Dr. Julio Fontanet, stated that “since its inception, the School of Law has demonstrated a strong commitment to clinical education and the development of litigation skills. This commitment has been aligned with academic projects such as the creation of the Master's Degree in Litigation, experiential courses and support for our students who make up the Inter Derecho litigation team. It is in tune with this initiative that our faculty has been recognized in the 40th position among all universities in the United States in the teaching of litigation. We are very honored with this distinction and thank the work and dedication of Professor Carlos Concepción Castro for this triumph and for taking the lead in positioning the School among the top litigation programs in the United States”.
