Objectives:
- Promote the development of courses, the creation of programs and curricular integration of environmental issues in the different academic degrees.
- Support the development of the
Interdisciplinary research, in the different campuses, in the area of environmental sciences. - Raise awareness among the University community and the community in general about environmental issues and topics.
CECIA's work program includes:
- Identify resources and environmental problems in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
- Recognize and classify deficient areas of environmental interpretation on the island and provide solutions.
- Promote educational research in conjunction with public, governmental and industrial sectors.
- Promote the development of courses and the creation of programs and curricular integration of environmental issues in the different academic programs.
- To prepare students to become informed citizens with the ability to make responsible decisions related to environmental issues.
- Establish an informative network in the area of environmental sciences and ecology to promote a better use of resources for environmental education on the Island.
- Promote activities in the campuses and in the community that raise environmental awareness.
